Emma Warren Design is an independent clothing brand and a valued Solopress customer. Emma uses embroidery to create original, offbeat designs that are full of character. The product range includes T-shirts, sweaters, jackets, bags and accessories for women, men and children.
One stitch at time
For the past two years, Emma has devoted herself to the business full-time. Prior to that she, built the label from scratch while taking on freelance work. With the help of friends, family, her colleague Jayne and dog Bea, Emma has now achieved her dream of turning her passion into her career.
Tactile textiles
While her abiding inspiration comes from insects (she loves a bee!), stickers, her own teenage diaries and kooky slogans, Emma’s most recent work has taken a step back in time:
“For this collection I have been inspired by 80s sportswear! In particular the shapes and pastel colours but still keeping my fine line stitch style adding in more colour, bugs and slogans of course!”
The humour and positivity in Emma’s work are infectious, and her range offers the opportunity to own truly distinctive and imaginative pieces at accessible price points.
Every trick in the book
Emma has even authored a book called “Customize your Clothes” that gives a step-by-step guide for anyone that’s interested in how embroidery can help them to upcycle their existing pieces and transform their wardrobe.
Picture perfect postcards
The role that Solopress is able to play in all of this is to produce the bespoke postcards that Emma uses as an insert in each order she ships. Having experimented with business cards, Emma settled on postcards because they give her more space to be creative.
“They seem to work better than adding business cards to orders, people seem to keep the postcards”
The postcards have proven popular with customers as a piece of added value as each one is a piece of original artwork. Emma’s most recent postcards featured the work of graphic designer and digital illustrator Lorna Collins. Because of their appeal, the postcards have great longevity as a piece of marketing collateral.
“My customers love the postcards! I use a cute illustration on the front with the important info on the back. People tell me that they like to keep them and display them on their walls and pin boards! I guess they’re little mini artwork which also helps with advertisement.”
It’s a great tip for creative small businesses. Invest a little artistic effort into turning your marketing materials into something your audience will treasure. You might find they have the staying power to perpetuate your message and secure repeat orders.
Quick print
Emma keeps coming back to Solopress for her print needs because of the fast turnaround times we offer:
“I love how speedy Solopress are, I’m always shocked at how quick the turnaround is! I usually leave everything to last minute so its super handy that delivery is so quick. No order goes without a postcard!”
Following the success of her postcards, Emma is currently exploring how other Solopress products such as Stickers and Swing Tags can add to her marketing toolkit. We’re certainly keen to continue our relationship with Emma Warren Designs and we can’t wait to see what Emma comes up with next!
