At Solopress, we’re constantly striving to improve our services to provide you with the best possible print solutions. Recently, we’ve made a significant £3.4m investment in our plant list, adding new state-of-the-art equipment to enhance both our lithographic and digital printing capabilities as well as our folding and finishing offerings. This investment is all about ensuring we can deliver top-quality print quickly, efficiently, and at great value to our customers.

Parallel paths: investing in both litho and digital

Our commitment to both lithographic and digital printing stems from our belief in the unique strengths of each method. By leveraging the best of both worlds, we can meet a broader range of your printing needs, ensuring that we deliver the highest quality prints regardless of the project’s size or complexity.

Lithographic printing: unmatched quality and speed

Operating one of the Heidelberg Speedmaster B1 Litho presses

Lithographic printing, or litho printing, is a method that has stood the test of time due to its exceptional quality and efficiency for large print runs. The process involves creating plates for each job, which can be more labour-intensive and time-consuming initially. However, once the plates are set up, litho printing offers incredible speed and consistency, making it ideal for high-volume projects.

Our new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 4 litho press with Coating Unit represents the pinnacle of lithographic technology. This press not significantly boosts our B1 output, but also allows us to achieve stunning print quality with exceptional detail and colour accuracy. The addition of the Coating Unit means we can apply special finishes that make your prints stand out even more, whether it’s a glossy magazine cover or a premium business card.

Digital printing: flexibility and precision

HP Indigo 120K

Digital printing has evolved significantly over the years, closing the quality gap with lithographic printing while offering distinct advantages for certain types of projects. With negligible changeover times and increasing levels of automation, it’s particularly well-suited for shorter runs where litho is less efficient, and opens up possibilities for variable data printing.

The HP Indigo 120K Digital Press we’ve added to our plant harnesses the very latest in B2 digital print technology. This press delivers quality and speed that, until recently, would have been unheard of for a digital press. It not only ensures your prints are vibrant and precise, but does so at an impressive 6000 B2 sheets per hour!

Enhanced finishing capabilities

Konica Minolta AccurioShine 3600 with iFoil One

In addition to our new printing presses, we’ve significantly upgraded our finishing capabilities, investing in both the Konica Minolta AccurioShine 3600 with iFoil One and two new folding machines: the Horizon AFV-566FTK Ice Folder and the MBO T800.1.

The Konica Minolta AccurioShine 3600 with iFoil allows us to produce higher volumes of foil finish and spot UV prints, enhancing the visual appeal of your printed materials. Whether it’s a striking foil-stamped Invitation or a Brochure cover with glossy spot UV highlights, these finishing touches can make a big difference in how your materials are received.

The Horizon Ice Folder increases our capacity for folding Flyers, Leaflets, Menus, and more. This machine is designed to handle high volumes with precision, ensuring that every piece is folded perfectly, no matter the size or complexity of the job.

MBO T800 section folder

Meanwhile, the MBO T800.1 brings a new level of speed and efficiency to our folding capabilities. This premium buckle folding machine is built for high-speed production, capable of processing up to 13,755 sheets per hour. With its advanced control system and enhanced automation, the MBO T800.1 increases our production speed through fast and accurate folding function and vastly reduced makeready times. This new addition complements the Horizon Ice Folder, giving us even greater flexibility and capacity in our finishing department.

Improving our service to you

All of these investments, totalling £3.4m, are aimed at one goal: improving our service to you. By enhancing our printing capabilities, we can offer faster turnaround times, higher quality prints, and greater flexibility in the types of projects we can handle. Whether you need a large run of catalogues, a small batch of personalised postcards, or anything in between, we have the technology and expertise to deliver outstanding results.

Looking ahead

As we move forward, we’re excited about the possibilities that these new technologies open up for us and for you. We’re always looking for ways to innovate and improve, and we’re confident that our recent £3.4m investment will help us do just that. We’re not just investing in equipment; we’re investing in our ability to serve you better.
