Choke & Spread
Choke and spread are techniques used in graphic design to manage the overlap between colours, preventing misregistration and improving the quality of the final printed product.
Choking reduces the size of an underlying image, while spreading enlarges it.
These techniques create a slight overlap or underlap to compensate for slight shifts during printing.
When effectively used, choke and spread ensure crisp lines and sharp details in multicolour prints.
